The one where I am exactly and completely Miscellaneous Mum's twin. Kind of. Well a little bit. If she were a bogan. Which she isn't.

The day after boxing day we were given the opportunity to check out Adventure Park in Geelong along with some other awesome bloggers.

Now before you read on, if you aren't familiar with Miscellaneous Mum then 1) why not? And 2) go and check her out right now.

Karen is an incredibly inspiring blogger. She is thoughtful and thought provoking. Just like me right? Maybe. Kind of.

Anyway Karen and her family were at the park being treated like royalty too (food, private cabanas, nice nice nice). While we were there it occurred to me how very alike we are. Really truly. If I were less bogue or she were more so.

Here's why:

We both have blonde hair (although mine is prone to change on a whim).
Yep. Blonde.
We both are bloggers (although she is also a published author whereas I bang on here and that's about it).

We both didn't want to get cold in the water (although she wandered around and did stuff with her family and did brave it while I sat on my bum most of the time playing with the babygirl and left the adventuring to the Supertrucker and the big kids. Which was actually all win for me. I very rarely sit down.)

Kicking back. Love it.
We had the same sunnies on (thanks to another recent blogger event, truly this gig rocks sometimes).

We both had straw hats (although hers was a lovely trilbyish type getup whereas mine was a huge wide brimmed chappie with an Aussie flag on the front that matches the hubster's and which we bought at the Reject Shop a few years ago).

You can't call yourself bogue until you own this hat. Srsly.
See? We are totally the same! Although she probably doesn't have a tramp stamp and may prefer wine to Johnnie Walker.

One thing I KNOW we have in common is that we both had an amazing time with our families.

My big boy has declared this the best day ever.
Which will make the rest of the school hols pretty dull in comparison.
I literally didn't see my big boy for most of the day, he'd adopted a Mad Cow's family and was having the time of his life going on every single thing he could.

Floater
My big girl flitted back and forth to our cabana but spent a lot of time floating the lazy river with her Dad and playing on the pirate play thingy right next to where we were.

Big girl LOVED this.
The baby just say around being cute, and the the little mate didn't come as we'd had a couple of big days prior and he needed some quiet downtime. He had an ace day with his Nanna and Grandpa instead.

Babygirl. Being cute.
My kids are already talking about when we can go back, and even the Supertrucker is keen which is a bit awesome. If you are planning a trip to Geelong to check it out I would recommend budgeting for a private cabana if you possibly can. It's $59.95 for a full day but so worth it to have your own quiet area to chill out and keep your stuff safe. You also get bottled water and ice in that price and a handy table for your gear. Plus two deck chairs and two banana lounges. I ADORE banana lounges.

Cabana Love
There are heaps of places to buy food while you're there, we enjoyed the chicken, fish and chips which is cooked fresh when you order. Yummy. If you're working to a budget I'd suggest packing a picnic for the family and cutting out the food costs. It is a tourist attraction and the food prices reflect that.

To be a lady pirate you must expose as much breast as possible at all times.
Luckily as a rampant breastfeeder I meet this criteria.
Sadly I don't wear white pants. Ever. Oh well.

The park offers both casual day rates for entry and season passes which are the better option if you're likely to go back. And trust me you will want to go back.

For our family of six if we bought food there, there probably wouldn't be much change out of $250 - $300 for the day at the casual rate (not counting travel costs). You could cut that a LOT by bringing your own food. All the attractions are free to ride so really it could be as expensive or inexpensive as you make it.

And in complete honesty I think it is worth it for a special day out. We had such a great family day. The kids will be raving about it for a long while to come and I think once our littles are a bit bigger and able to enjoy more of the rides it would be even better value.

Sure sign of a great day out.
